i tossed up a server because someone mentioned it in a thread. if anyone is interested in a little nostalgia…
telnet://tw.catsweat.com
only 5 user license, but if theres enough interest i can increase it
- I remember playing this on dial-up BBSs back in the day… - If I recall how it works correctly, you fly around for 15 minutes, then get utterly destroyed by someone who’s been playing longer than you.
- I registered and created WEYLAND-YEETANI CORP. I’m a noob, so go easy if anyone encounters me.
- Holy crap. Haven’t thought about that game in forever! Nice!
- I may partake later tonight. Thanks!
- i banged it at max sector count (30k) and max turns, and i think i increased the initial credits to 10k - If there’s interest from othersin actively playing, might be nice to find an IRC channel to lurk in for general game discussion and hangout.

- Alright I was a bit too young to play anything like this at it’s peak, but I am interested. Do I understand it correctly that the way to play this would on a windows machine in cmd? Quickly tried alacritty and kitty terminals (linux) and I don’t think some of the stuff looks correct - EDIT: - Get - syncterm, then just do- syncterm telnet://tw.catsweat.com- This how the game entering should look like (it didnt look like this at all for me in any of the above term emus) - its a telnet server, essentially. so any telnet client should work ok… - ubuntu has it built in ctrl+alt+t ‘telnet tw.catsweat.com’ - for windows i think swath used to be the hot client… not sure about other windows telnet clients - There is a putty Telnet client and also a role in Windows system you can add for a Telnet client baked into the cli

- I twlnetted in yesterday, but I realize ansi support really isn’t thing on Mac OS. - Anyone have a good terminal recommendation for macos? - Try if you can get syncterm on macos

- Love it! Never played TradeWars before, did a couple of successful trades today, great fun! Thanks for hosting!
- One of my all time favs. So many good memories
