Ever since this broke I’ve been so curious to see which are dealers with bad, rushed paperwork before a deadline that they let pile up before mass-submitting, and how many are outright fraud. Neither would surprise me at this point.

Yeah, them all being the same is what makes me think person; when you look at those AI images with legible text, the text wiggles and is inconsistent when you compare something like one A to another A. But if you’re a person using linocut stamps or duplicating things in photoshop, letters will look the same.
There’s other little things too, like the knot in the wood that the paper dips into, that make me lean more towards ‘real but strange looking photo.’
I’m torn on whether this is AI. The AI detectors I put it in say no, and the letters being consistent (all T’s looking like all other T’s, etc) says real person to me rather than machine generated. The wood grain is also consistent beneath the lettering, and it and the chain link fence don’t meander or disappear in any weird ways that I see.
That said the building in the background looks weird to me, as does the lighting. And the combination of the wood grain plus the texture on the lettering does give it that weird quality that AI text tends to have, it immediately made me question it as well. I just can’t decide if it’s a weird artifact of real textures clashing or not.
Life’s hard when your husband has a smooth chest 😔
I mean, I didn’t make it up, that’s the dictionary definition of Anglo for American English speakers. I don’t disagree with any of your points, it’s just news to me that “Anglo” is also used to mean “anyone who speaks English”.
You specified Anglo, which is a racial/ethnic group?? I have never heard anyone use Anglo to mean anything other than white people.
I live in southern California and have never noticed a racial aspect to this, most people thank the driver. Either when boarding or just calling out ‘thank you!’ as they leave through the back.
Do you work with younger kids? I have an in-law who teaches middle school and is generally pulling his hair out over lack of parental involvement. Kid-wranglers deserve all the thanks!
And now you’ve moved your goalposts; first it was ‘convince me philosophy deserves government funding,’ now it’s ’philosophy isn’t a hard science and can’t show me on a graph why abortion is wrong’.
If you just don’t like the humanities receiving government funds, just say so instead of doing this song and dance about how it’s really about science and equality.
You’re pretty sure based on what? Even self-proclaimed pro-life philosophers admit their position is rare. Ethics itself easily argues in favor of abortion but not against it, which is one reason it’s available in virtually every secular state.
You are starting from your conclusion (philosophy isn’t worth funding) and working backwards to make that fit any new evidence presented to you.
Applied ethics is not ‘what feels like it would be the most correct thing to do?’, it’s writing professional codes of conduct, establishing criteria for who should be allowed to get an organ transplant, who should be considered for parole, what scientific experiments should be allowed to happen, if I listed everything affected by the study of ethics I’d be here all day.
I don’t want a random schmuck who’s never thought about any of this for more than 5 minutes writing any of that, and I sure as shit don’t want people voting on it. That’s how you end up with abortion bans.
Do you want anyone other than priests advising government officials on ethics? Then you want philosophy majors.
Same for Bic
What do you believe is being contributed to the discussion by being so negative about citizen political engagement? Don’t punish behavior you want to see more of. And if you think you can do better, get out there.
Yeah, it’s petty but I don’t really care about it. These people couldn’t even save us the first time around.
They can probably hear much more clearly than we can that it’s a box moving around on rails in a giant echo tube.
Earplugs or noise cancelling headphones are a game changer, 90% of the problem for me is the noise.
Oh, we’re not resistant, we’re just crazy enough to like the pain. Birds are resistant and don’t feel it at all, they can eat chilis like fruits.
If your passport has the gender designation X, or if you have changed your gender, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises contacting the American embassy before traveling for guidance on how to proceed.
Meanwhile in Finland, the advisory notes that if the gender on an applicant’s passport differs from the gender confirmed at birth, U.S. authorities may deny entry. It’s recommended to check the entry requirements with U.S. authorities in advance.
Another terrible death related thing: after a while, sometimes after bad news you’ll think “I’m glad [person] didn’t have to live to see this.”
