World News@lemmy.world•I am a 15-year-old girl. Let me show you the vile misogyny that confronts me on social media every day | AnonymousEnglish
3·9 days agoParents couldn’t track where their kids were doing 24/7 prior to the Internet. What makes you think they can do that now?
The fact that this is what you think makes for vigilant parenting explains a lot of what we’re failing to do as parents in society today. Tracking kids all the time does not equal vigilant parenting.
The result is the same and it’s not because the trees are shy.
Even before our current time, “nobody cares” is not a thermostat reading of what “really matters”. It almost sounds like you believe people know what’s best for themselves, when the truth of the matter is that humanity has long proved otherwise.

I forget sometimes that while space isvery cold, it’s also an incredible insulator.
SLVRDRGN@lemmy.worldtoPolitical Memes@lemmy.world•Its not that donald trump is for sure a pedophile. Its that there are 350 million people in the USA and there is no need to make someone where its even a question president.
32·23 days agoYou can say the same about any religion. Christianity spans much more than “American Christianity”. Lemmy is a place for people of the whole world is it not? You can’t refer to Christianity as a whole when talking about a very specific brand of it.
I would have thought Lemmy would not discriminate based on nationality, race, creed or religion, but I see such hate towards religion in general (here) that, honestly, you are not being respectful to others’ beliefs. Is this what we want Lemmy to be?

4·23 days agoThis is how we got to become a society of “disposable” culture.

510·24 days agoPlease, don’t generalize. Christians are giant group of people with many kinds. Gross generalization like this isn’t solving the problem. I know many, many Christians who are very much against the character of Trump.
Because of that word, I heard the whole thing in this guy’s voice

Overall 40 percent of Americans didn’t even read a single book last year. Doesn’t bode well for critical thinking if we can’t even read.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Most of the misery in the world is the direct result of too much money in too few unscrupulous hands. This is not only the cause of the vast majority of human suffering, but also of climate change.
31·1 month agoYou speak the truth. How else do people like Trump even have a shot of coming to power? He wouldn’t.
