Pentagon official confirms plan as House minority leader Jeffries says president is ‘playing’ with Americans’ lives
Planning is underway to send national guard troops to Chicago, an official at the Pentagon confirmed to ABC News on Sunday.
“We won’t speculate on further operations. The Department is a planning organization and is continuously working with other agency partners on plans to protect federal assets and personnel,” a Department of Defense official said, according to ABC.
Earlier on Sunday, Hakeem Jeffries, House minority leader and New York Democratic congressman, said Donald Trump has “manufactured a crisis” to justify sending federalized national guard troops into Chicago next, over the heads of local leaders.
Politicians waiting for the public to get riled up. Public waiting for the politicians to start something. Classic bystander effect at work.
Remember the Ok Corral scene in Tombstone, where they all freeze with their guns out, and wait for the other guys to make the first move?

I don’t think it’s that, but more that nobody wants to be the first. It’s going to be a hell of an entry in the history books, and once someone breaks the seal then a lot of activities across the US are going to start being a hell of a lot more lethal.
It’s basically a high tension Gordion knot where whoever cuts it gets turned into physics when all the energy gets released from it. Wherever first revolts is probably gonna get ass blasted until things can be organized or until chaos spreads enough that effective assault is made impossible.

Depends. Are they American to begin with? If not, the rest of us are just watching this particular shitstorm, if you don’t mind.
Yeah, as a non-American, having lived with being exposed all my life to the American propagated myth about Americans being the most freedom loving and individualistic people on Earth, it is a bit curious to see how quick and unopposed the implementation of dictatorship in the US is.
The average person has not been personally impacted enough to do anything about it. Until they are, and a large enough number of people feel they’re on a path to losing everything, will they do something about it.
You can’t get more selfishly individualistic than the current American response to fascism, but this is nothing new. They couldn’t even agree that everyone deserves healthcare.
The weird thing is, is that the people criticizing the people who criticize those not doing anything are themselves not doing anything either. Not an American btw. It’s bystanders all the way down!
