Justice Department leadership is prepared to use its rule-making authority to declare transgender people as mentally ill and deprive them of their Second Amendment right to possess firearms, according to two Justice officials who shared internal discussions with CNN.
Deliberations at the highest levels of the DOJ follow the recent mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church in Minneapolis, an attack police say was carried out by a 23-year-old former student at the church’s school who may have been a transgender person or a de-transitioned individual. Two children were killed in the attack, and 21 others were injured.
And now we get to the fascists beginning to disarm their enemies phase. After that it won’t be long before they label registered Democrats as mentally defective.

We can’t trump control the narrative like that. We have to shift the narrative back to the economy every time something like this comes up.

Taking their guns is only the first step against transfolk. Once they’re declared mentally unwell they’ll start locking them up and forcing treatment on them.

Operation Blazing Sword is a grass-roots organization dedicated to helping everyone, but especially queer people, become responsible firearm owners.
Haven’t heard of that. But another option is the SRA (socialist rifle association). Its a nationwide version of the NRA for socialist/leftists. They are not activist but strictly an organization for learning firearm safety and use. Highly recommend from my experience with my local SRA.
Our membership has exploded since the election. And obviously a lot of our members are from the queer community.

This is probably just another distraction. I don’t think the executive brach has the power to declare someone mentally ill for the purposes of existing gun legislation. They would need a new law through congress, and they won’t get enough votes for that.
Legislation? That’s so old school. The really important stuff, like repealing Constitutional Amendments, is all done by Executive Orders these days.
The right has never supported gun ownership for groups they consider outside “American identity” just look at Reagan’s actions while governor.
The right is about to learn the very important lesson that support of gun control does not necessarily imply a lack of gun ownership.
Too bad they’re likely to learn the wrong lesson.
