There are now almost daily attacks on critical infrastructure. In the same week that drones were spotted over several European airports, a cyberattack against security software used by many of those same hubs, including Berlin Airport, left passengers and personnel scrambling. At the same time, Germany’s Deutsche Bahn rail service experienced the latest in a series of high-level sabotage incidents.
Similar cyberattacksare experienced by private companies with increasing regularity — costing the economy €289 billion ($339 billion), according to Bitkom, the umbrella organization for the digital economy in Germany. While about 68% of the time, the perpetrator is thought to be a crime syndicate, half of the survey companies said they could trace at least one attack to Russia. A similar number said they linked the incidents to China.

So when can I expect we stop to pretend this is normal and amp up our defenses and cyber security instead of trying to mandate holes in our own firewalls for cHiLdSaFeTy?
Any person can pilot a drone. Dial it down.
Maybe we should friendlier to these fascict empires that want to destroy our way of life, so they don’t hurt us 🥺

Realistically if a foreign threat actor wanted to infiltrate virtually everyone’s devices and one day just ruin fucking everyone’s pcs and phones, unless they were caught there is fuck all that would be done about you.
Any civilian with could walk into a police station with hard evidence of this happening and then be laughed out at best, or at worst detained for psychiatric investigation because the police are fucking idiots.
They could contact intelligence services who would dismiss it out of hand as some kind of psychotic delusion.
Infrastructure may be a simpler target to hit relatively speaking but the utter lack of knowledge most people have to defend themselves against cyberattacks, the opaque, business/government-facing nature of the cybersecurity industry, and the profound ignorance that most people have regarding how their devices work and what exactly is at stake, is, imo, a major fucking problem waiting to happen.
So it begins? Nothing beginning. Nothing will be done. Our leaders are too corrupt to do anything that would slight the Chinese and hurt the corporate. And several years of cowardice have shown that nothing will be done against Russian violation of our sovereignty.
