Gov. Mike DeWine says he believes Ohio should abolish the death penalty. The term-limited governor, who has repeatedly postponed scheduled executions, said Tuesday that data shows the death penalty is not serving as a deterrent to violent crime as the law he helped write had intended.
Can we at least agree, whether he’s doing it for the right or wrong reasons, that this is a good thing and backed by research?
