Once you have enough money to buy anything you want it looses value, now its the things that you can’t buy that are worth having, those are the things you can show off to your other ridiculously wealthy friends.

To get to that level of wealth you have to have at minimum no compassion for others. Overlapping with that is usually a joy in the suffering of others, typically treating it like a toy. So you end up with some pretty depraved stuff concentrated into a small subset of the population
