I’m moving from iPhone to a pixel/graphene. I currently have an Apple Watch and got into the habit of leaving my phone on my desk (WfH) and relying on the watch to let me know if I get a notification. I don’t really want/care about fitness tracking or even responding to messages and calls. Is there a watch/bracelet that will just alert me to a notification?
Maybe something like PineTime?
It’s likely a very different experience than an apple watch, as in, much more basic in functionality. It’s also like $30.
Oh, that looks pretty fantastic. Thanks!
im daily driving the pinetime on a postmarketos phone. it is glorious. but you kinda need to want to stick it to the man for maximum pleasure because thats whst youre doing. thats how it feels to me anyway.
I came across bangle.js 2 when searching for PineTime info. Same idea, but more expensive (~twice the price for me in Canada), a little better hardware, and supposedly a larger developer/userbase.
I don’t know too much about it; curious if folks here have opinions.
I found this too. Seems pretty good. I may have to give it a try if the pinetime doesn’t work out
Similar question: Android smart watches only connect to one phone. I like receiving silent notifications on my watch from my android phone. However I also have an Apple phone for work and would like a ring or some other small wearable (not a second watch) to receive notifications from my Apple phone.

Update: just got my pinetime. Build quality seems decent, but im disappointed in the vibrate/notifications. It could be I haven’t found a setting, but it gives a very light buzz for an extremely short amount of time for each notification. Basically, unless I’m focused on the watch, I’m not going to feel it.
Updated update: going from infinitime 1.0 to 1.14.1 makes a huge difference (who would have guessed). I’m much less disappointed now!
Don’t most? Even Fitbit does that for ages. You can select what apps to receive notifications from.
Most do, but I’d prefer something that isn’t going to negate all the privacy I’m aiming for with something like graphene. Fitbit is owned by google, I would guess they’re pulling plenty information from those devices
Totally right. Forgot what community I was in.
