For those of us hit by the recent announcement here is a graph I found with some other services worth checking for your next voyages. I have crossed out All-Debrid too as that is also hosted in France and is bound to be hit by the same hammer as Real-Debrid was.

Feel free to share your alternative solutions in the comments below, but always do you research carefully!

The graph shows which Debrid services are supported by each addon for Stremio. Torbox seems to be a new popular and modern alternative. If anyone has any experience with any of the listed services then feel free to share your experiences in the comments.

Edit: Debrid-Link is also French!

Afaik a remote torrent client that you stream the media from.
Something like a cross between a seedbox and a media cloud. Then you either implement it somehow into your media streamer like Jellyfin/Plex or a browser.

Kinda related, it seems that the Fen Light addon creator also says goodbye to the Kodi scene… It seems like a big day for streaming piracy.

Having lived in France for 2 years i can say that the bureaucracy there is out of control. Paperwork upon paperwork upon paperwork to get ANYTHING done. That said, any formal notice probably took years to draft and send, and then the debrid folks probably can drag their heels for years. I’m personally not jumping ship quite yet but i’ll pay month to month and wait it out.

Trying out TorBox as I write this. Has some cool features and it looks like a lot of people from RD are hopping over to it. New servers are arriving Monday for the huge amount of new users. And it’s also quite cheap. There’s a black friday sale going on right now too.

Out of the loop here, what happened to real debrid? Its the most useful piracy tool i have used in years.

Kind of misleading as all debrid works fine and there is no guarantee it will be “hit by the same hammer” anytime soon or ever. The reasoning your using is an appeal to probability which is a logical fallacy.

France has extremely powerful copyright trolls, restrictive laws, and a culture of oppression by bureaucrats. There’s even a tax on storage mediums that goes to the MAFIAA. what.cd got nuked, RealDebrid got threatened hard enough that they gave in. I wouldn’t spend any money on anything illegal hosted in France.

Do as you wish, pay for what you want to pay for - its your money.

That being said; these services will have to comply with French law. Real-Debrid probably didn’t have much choice to do what they did as they were hit with a formal notice from the French Federation of Film Distributors (FNEF). The french have been for a long while now been trying very hard to remove as many of these services as possible. First it was Hadopi agency, now merged with the Higher Audiovisual Council to form the more powerful regulator Arcom. Here’s a SS from this article about their anti-piracy efforts in 2022.

Similar services that are hosted in France will have to comply the second they get a notice from Arcom. France is obviously way more committed to removing piracy I’d say its a good call to not pay into french services… Personally, I wont be paying for services hosted in France as I believe its only a matter of time before more are struck down.

They where “hit” by the Federation of Film Distributors, not by any French court.

We can’t assume any legal consequences just yet and certainly not outside French jurisdiction. People should keep their head together before jumping to conclusions of being hit by hammers, or by announcements or worse…possible hangings and guillotines.

I’m not sure why there is so much push back. You made a post showing alternatives to real debrid but you crossed out all debrid even though it works.

Any idea how this affects those of us who only use it for random stuff where torrents are too slow or to bypass Rapidshare speed limits?

Not sure tbh. Guess it depends what you are downloading and if you are using their service directly and not through their API. They will not block and ban people downloading stuff from their banned lists and their API can no longer be used.

It’s better to switch Debrid Service to support someone willing to host a better service imo.
