Summary

House Republicans, led by Speaker Mike Johnson, announced a new subcommittee to investigate the January 6 attack, aiming to challenge findings that held Donald Trump responsible.

Chaired by Rep. Barry Loudermilk, the panel seeks to reframe the riot as a result of intelligence and security failures, not deliberate violence.

This follows Trump’s sweeping pardons for all January 6 defendants, including those convicted of violence.

Critics warn these actions could encourage political violence, while Republicans claim they aim to “uncover the full truth.”

IDK if it’s standard practice but every one of these panels should create a majority and minority report. The recent COVID pandemic report from Congress was laughable in its partisanship.
