  • Jesus, how much have the Zionists modified that Wiki article? A text supposedly about how Israelis dehumanize Palestinians repeatedly starts by reciting the issue with Palestinians and Muslims dehumanizing Jews? This is the first mention of the details of dehumanization:

“Among Palestinians, Israelis have been referred to as pigs, dogs, and bloodsucking vampires, while in Israeli discourse references to Palestinians as savage animals and or repugnant critters has also been attested, and at least once, protesting Gazans have been described as mere ammunition weaponized by their “cannibal” leaders.”

And this is the first paragraph under “Background”:

“Even though Jews, like a number of other religious minorities, Christians included, were accorded protected status in Islamic societies, the use of abusive stereotypes was not uncommon, some of them were grounded in Quranic and early scholarly traditions.”

Is this about Israeli dehumanization of Palestinians? WTF? Let’s always start by reciting how Muslims maybe kind of deserve it, or maybe bring the dehumanization on themselves.

  • I know, it’s the part where you put an equivalence between the Zionist occupiers and the resistance to that illegal occupation. Regardless of the ideology of the occupied people, they have a right to armed resistance enshrined in international law. The occupier has zero rights in this context, just the responsibility to end the occupation and until then, provide for the needs of the occupied, which Israel has utterly disregarded on both accounts. So saying “both are as bad” in this context makes you a clear supporter of the Zionist atrocities, the resistance is exercising it’s human right to armed resistance to occupation. You know, like when jewish Partizans killed during WWII. Calling that equally as bad as the Nazis would in effect make you a Nazi supporter.

  • I recently tried switching to mint from the dark side, but the instability made me go back to Windows. I’d say everything doesn’t ‘just work’ on mint at all, unless you have the most basic needs in your usage. Whenever I’ve tried to raise the issues with seasoned Linux user, the answer has been “well, most regular people don’t need to do that specific thing”.

So if it’s true that Mint is the only Linux distro that “just works”, then Linux is definitely not even close to being suitable as a mainstream choice. Which really saddens me, as I felt much better on a moral level using mint, but I couldn’t live with the little annoyances that kept popping up. So now I live with the annoyances that pop up in windows instead .

  • I think it’s one of my all time favorites. I think people here live in the tech literate bubble who know how to use specialized software for the different things excel does, albeit clunkily. But average people are intimidated by those more advanced tools, and there are a lot of average people in decision making positions who benefit greatly from being able to use excel.

  • Iran got involved in Syria to fight IS, the same people that rebranded as HTS, the leader of which now has put on a suit, changed his name and rules the new Syria. One of the first thing they did: started massacring minorities in Syria by the thousands, just in the last week. Also, Syria is in the Middle East, next to Iran. Iran isn’t involved in military operations in Mexico. If IS wasn’t stopped in Iraq and Syria, they’d be massacring civilians in Iran, since Iranians are Shia and therefore heretics to be killed.

Your view unfortunately seems to have been influenced by the classification of nations as axis of evil that I referred to above. It’s confused and incoherent, and lacks a whole lot of nuance. That’s what happens when nations are classified as “evil”, which is a metaphysical religious term making nuance impossible. You say “if Palestine were suddenly freed from the Zionists”, thereby implying that you consider this a worth while goal, while simultaneously vilifying the only forces in the region working to achieve that liberation, namely Hamas, Hizbollah and Ansar Allah in Yemen, as “proxy armies” of Iran, completely delegitimizing their agency and the fight for the very liberation you seem to support.

Finally, it’s absolutely wild to state that a Palestine under the influence of Iran would be “the same shit all over again” as the almost century long oppression, occupation, dispossession and genocide carried out by the Zionists against the Palestinian people. Absolutely wild! I urge you to take a step back and consider that statement, and why you would make such an absurd and outrageous claim to begin with. Because I feel like you’re doing that without thinking about it a whole lot, and would reconsider that position if you thought about the comparison you’re making. Iran has zero designs on dispossessing or occupying Palestine and its people. To compare that with what Israel has been doing is just not a good look.
