Everybody agrees with supporting Ukraine including myself, the problem is that saying “maybe there should be a ceasefire and negotiated land swap” or “Ukraine should learn to live with Russia on their borders” triggers an extreme reaction in a lot of liberal centrists that just highlights the point in my original post 🤷♀️ Meanwhile Ukranians are being shoved into busses and forced to fight a losing war.
Supporting peace isn’t “Russian propaganda”, 78% of Ukranians want a negotiated end to the war. If you want to keep fighting Russia then send your own damn troops and quit forcing Ukranians to die over an inter-imperial pissing match that’s killed almost their entire fighting age male population.
Democrats are the furthest thing from “moderate”, they are on the extreme center. The idea that liberal centrism can’t be extremist is damaging. Supporting endless proxy warfare in Ukraine, genocide in Gaza and austerity at home are all irrational, extremist positions that the Democrats (and most liberal parties in other countries) believe in.
Xbox is BDS - if you support Palestine, now is a great time to cancel your Gamepass subscription and stop funding genocide.
Either Eurovision boycotts Pissrael or we continue our boycott of Eurovision as we’ve done for the last 2 years. They had no hesitation in giving Russia the boot in 2022 so the fact its taken them 2 years is indefensible. The only difference is the religion and skin colour of the people being slaughtered.
There’s still a few weeks until 25.10 releases. If its still issues by release time I’m sure that they’ll either delay the 25.10 release (as they have done in the past) or pause the coreutils-rs
rollout and stick to GNU Coreutils for this release.
I got so excited until I saw who’s buying them 😭 I just want another Burnout game bruh
What does the text on that beautiful Strawberry Elephant creature say? Looks like it’s in Farsi
+972 Magazine (an Israeli anti-genocide publication) and Drop Site News actually were the first ones to break the story.
I live in a wildly overpriced studio apartment. I would jump at the chance to move into a concrete block apartment with no AC and limited hot water if it took $500 off my monthly rent.
That’s good to know! So it’s there, but very spotty and inadequate in areas. Still better than nothing like in the US.
I live in Canada where we have the “best” universal healthcare system in the world by some estimates (single payer, free universal healthcare as a right for all citizens), but we only got dental and pharmacy care added to our program last year. Since the 1960s until 2024 our universal healthcare system was the same “basics only” coverage for hospital and physician visits, and everything else was tied to private insurance. Vision care still isn’t covered.
I mean I agree that Vancouver is maybe one of the most beautiful cities in the world, but it’s also one of the most expensive!
I’ll take anything that’s a move in the right direction at this point. Gaza is the modern-day Holocaust and anything that moves the needle to make the killing stop is a good thing.
Very interesting, what period of time was this? Because universal healthcare has rapidly developed in just the last 5-10 years. According to the WHO 95% of China now has basic health coverage, free of charge.
(And yes there are going to be gaps in the system, there will be gaps in any rapidly-developing universal program)
What’s up with the obsession with “.ml”? I’ve literally never heard of or used this site except from annoying people who are get triggered and accuse people for saying facts they don’t like.
Here’s the WHO (not exactly a communist organization) on Chinese universal healthcare:
https://www.who.int/china/health-topics/universal-health-coverage
Universal health coverage (UHC) is a vision where all people and communities have access to quality health services where and when they need them, without suffering financial hardship. It includes the full spectrum of services needed throughout life—from health promotion to prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and palliative care—and is best based on a strong primary health care system.
The concept of UHC is much in line with the goal of China’s Health Reform since 2009, which aims to provide establish a universal basic health care system providing safe, effective, convenient and affordable health services to all by 2020.
You don’t have to like China, but underestimate your enemy at your own peril.
We need this in North America if we ever want to solve the housing crisis tbh. I’m talking Soviet-style, grey concrete commieblocks. Yes the buildings are ugly, probably lack amenities, cheaply constructed and not well maintained, but we desperately need cheap, dense housing if we’re going to bring down the costs. Building more luxury Manhattan condos and suburban single family abominations does nothing to bring down housing prices.
China has universal healthcare and universal public housing, lol. China spends less per capita on social welfare, but that’s because things are cheaper and more efficient in China (a shot of insulin doesn’t cost $1000 for example).
The EU is America’s servile little lapdog, its no surprise they would take notes from Trump on this. Especially when it comes to persecuting migrants to feed the cultural war, so that they don’t have to talk about how they’re about to do more austerity and health service cuts. The war machine demands more human sacrifices to keep running!
Don’t forget the apartheid! America’s greatest ally indeed :-)
Not sure what the alternative is, Ukraine has run out of manpower and the ones that are left don’t want to keep fighting. We can dump all the money we have into the pit and it won’t solve the manpower issues, the only solution to that if Europe deports all the Ukranian refugees back to Ukraine to force them to fight or we send our own NATO troops in (WW3). And if this keeps going the way it’s been going millions are going to die and Putin will take all of Ukraine and not just parts of it that have been gone since 2014,
