Agreed.
I still keep and use my Windows partition quite often, and probably will for a long time.
I do find that more and more finds its way over to Linux though, which is very nice

I can’t comment on connectivity, as that is a personal preference.
I respect it though, but have given up myself.
Having a safer car with creature comforts outweighs the benefit of complete privacy for me. I’d probably think differently if I didn’t have a familiy to keep safe….
Regarding range: 500+ km is super nice, but not necessary for most people. Our shortest range EV is 406 WLTP, so realistically only 300 in winter conditions. That’s 2-3 hours of driving between every charge stop, which we need to do to eat/relax/use the bathroom anyways.
In summer it’s even further.
Charging takes 15-30 minutes, depending on SoC when we stop.
For any trip shorter than this and in every day life, we don’t need to stop at all as I can charge both at home and at work.
I get that might not be the case for most people, of course.

For those who can’t read Norwegian: Nationally, 98,6% of ALL cars sold in Norway in April this year were electric.
In every single fylke (state/region), the percentage was over 95%. He’s referencing total car pool, whick takes 20 years to replace.
This guy is full of shit for some unknown reason, but he’s sticking to it.
EV’s work fine in cold climates as proven every god damn winter in the Nordic countries alone.
I’m out if this dumb argument now. You were wrong, shit happens. Stop spreading lies in the future just because you like changing oil and spending all your savings on servicing your old fosil cars. The rest of us live in the present

97,7 % of all vehicles sold in May were electric.
Over 50% of all cars on the road are electric.
Your reading comprehension is on par with your knowledge of electric cars

This is just a straight up lie.
97,7% of all personal vehicles sold in Norway in May were EV’s.
Unless you claim only 2,3% of our population live north of Trondheim, you’re just full of shit.
And if your car stops working below 5 degrees, you have a shitty car. Both our EV’s worked fine in -30 just two years ago.
I had to charge more often, that was it

Europe is covered. I’ve done the whole continent with zero planning, just ABRP (A Better Route Planer).
Is coverage where you are that bad?

New ICE cars are just as much computers as EV’s are.
And mind me asking where you live where they are 20-30k higher?

Yeah they recommended the same alkylate here.
I have to admit: I know very little of GM engines, and they sell very few cars here. It’s becoming even less relevant as EV’s are just dominating completely, passing 97% here last month.
For me personally it’s the snow blower and motorcycles, but both of those are new enough to handle E10. I still give them 98 as they sometimes have to sit idle due to weather, and we have winter from October to April.
I’ve heard the same about petrol being stored, but I’ve never had issues either. At least a year seems to be more than OK, but that is always 98.
95 E10 might be worse as it absorbs water over time…
Hope your rototiller works fine next time you use it !

In Norway, 98 is still ethanol free for older cars and engines only used seasonally like lawn mowers and snow plowers.
95 is of course (up to) 10% and that’s completely fine for anything even remotely modern and in use every now and then.
Like you said: hoses don’t like the ethanol, and it’s hydroscopic which is what can cause issues if left in for 6 months every year.

Did anyone send you an invite, or do you prefer the public trackers?

Same for me.
The moment I can use Docker, I’m spinning it up with Tailscale and invite those who are ready to swap.
Fingers crossed it turns out as good as we hope!

I own a .me domain as my last name was taken locally. Had it for a few years.
.me is just so easy to share over the phone and looks cool, so I’d probably keep it even if I manage to snag the local one in the future.
No issues so far

Yeah this is what we’re waiting for too.
Looks very exciting to self host with Tailscale/Netbird.

I managed, without ever trying, to convert a friend to swap to Linux about a month ago.
Today I’m driving over to give him my old old server so he can start self hosting. He’s super keen on getting started.
So not my success, but ours? One more person joins the community today!

Same story here.
Have two private trackers now, but started with just using the ones I had heard of, and removed a few that kept coming up short.
It works fine, but torrents died quite fast as most people don’t bother seeding there.
For new stuff it worked fine

Agree!
I’ve managed to convert three friends this last year. Two to Mint, one to Bazzite because he mostly games.
Immutable distro is perfect for him, just working out of the box.
Next «level» for him would probably be Fedora KDE Plasma, for sure not Arch.

Oooooooooh, well god dingit, there it is!
Nice! Thanks again!

Seems to be missing in 10.11.3, so I might just be a few patches behind.
I’ll read the patch notes and see if it’s been added recently.
Just posting as it’s good to know for others searching, I guess.

I obviously need to have another look when I get home!
The issue started on 10.10, but I haven’t looked into it after upgrading.
Thanks for taking the time, Freund!
Let me paint a picture for you, friend: you have a power outage while playing games. Your drive is corrupted (yes, this happened to me).
Sony has removed the game from their servers, and you just lost your only copy, as you have no way to back it up.
It is now gone forever, just like the movies they removed after selling.
You seem irritated that people push back at you, but they have valid points. Without a physical copy, you are no longer in control of the game/movie.
You also lose the ability to buy and sell used, which is a right you have with physical disks, but not with a digital license.
It’s ok to not care for physical media, but at least try to understand the point we’re trying to make. We want us all to have access to both digital and physical to choose freely. Why fight that when it’s a win/win for all of us?
