The chemical most places use for drycleaning is perchloroethylene, or perc, which can contaminate groundwater if not stored or disposed of properly.

I used to operate a drill rig for taking soil and water samples. I learned to read all the utility markings and to spot the telltale markings of previous drill work. I can walk around an urban area and tell you where all the gas stations and drycleaners used to be just based on a look at the pavement. In that sense I can “see” things others can’t.

It would actually be pretty funny to send them the data they want but only from districts that voted Republican. (Of course they shouldn’t ACTUALLY do this but the idea is appealing).

We really need to stop electing people who think following the law is optional.

I’ll never forget an old MTG article about the 3 different types of players. I’ve found that it applies to most games and a lot of life too. There are Spike, Timmy, and Johnny.

Spike players just want to win. They don’t care if the way they win isn’t fun or interesting. All they care about is the W.

Timmy players are all about style. They don’t care if they lose as long as they do something big, flashy, and cool.

Johnny players are in between. They want to win with style. They want the big flashy move to win them the game.

All three players are having fun but they define “fun” in their own ways. Games should try to have ways to satisfy all three types of players.

It’s more like walking on train tracks and being surprised when you are hit by a train.

The share of pedestrians increased over that period, which may have had something to do with it. I suspect cell phone use while driving makes up a large part as well.

It would be more economical to pay for people to relocate and train them for new jobs. There’s plenty of room in cities and suburbs for the displaced. To be clear, I’m not talking about getting rid of towns of 5000; I’m talking about towns of a population of 500 or less.

Hey, if they want to stay when the water, electric, sewage, roads, fire department, police, and all other publicly subsidized services are removed they are welcome to it. We all shouldn’t have to pay because a handful of people can’t adjust to the century they live in.

I’ve said it before, but we need to start shutting down all these miniscule towns that have no reason for existing. They are nothing but an economic and social drain on the country.

Some do, but they happen less and there is legal recourse when it does happen.

During the Recession, in Chicago , a thing called flash mobs started happening. A bunch of people would storm into high end stores, grab whatever they could get their hands on, and run away. I would love to see it happen to big grocery store monopolies, Walmarts, and the like.

Most arguments for using Hitler’s DNA end up supporting the eugenicist trash Nazi scientists espoused. There is little practical use for it.

Without civil rights there is no equity or social justice. It isn’t just about getting married. It’s about getting fired for being out. It’s about being denied housing for being out. It’s about being jailed for sodomy or dragged behind a truck until you are dead.

Except both those issues were wedge issues chosen by Republicans to gain votes from the religious. Those weren’t major platforms for Democrats until Republicans forced the issues.

The white man will try to satisfy us with symbolic victories rather than economic equity and real justice.

Those victories are very much NOT symbolic to gay people and women. They are very real and very crucial to their welfare.
