iirc, there were some statements from companies (Microsoft?) that we won’t have to worry about AI’s effect on climate change because it’ll also come up with the solutions

Larpers larping as other larpers, the dork layers run deep…
Ah, they’re digging their own graves!
Saw this like three times before I realized. Am dumb
The phrasing is weird in the text. I believe it’s more like, 91.9% of people are your score or higher. I was so confused the first time I saw phrasing like this but for some reason it’s common with tests and such.
You can think of it like, Bernie always talking about the top 1% meaning the top richest. With that phrasing, the smaller the number the higher the rank.
I was actually thinking of the person in the crowd but yeah, gunman too. At the same time, if it were a setup, “killing” the gun man would be the move since there would be no one to investigate, right? But an innocent bystander killed?
I wanna agree, especially with how performative the fist pump is, but at the same time, someone did die, right? That’s the part that makes me lean towards this as a real assassination attempt. But maybe it was an accepted cost of doing this?
I dunno, at this point I think I just need to take a break from news communities and wait for real investigations, I’m losing my mind with the speculations
That was my first thought too; would this improve treatment for serious burn victims and such. Sounds like what they’ve made is better overall for sticking to applied surfaces and moving without tearing. Heck, maybe this could even lead to prosthetics that allow physical sensation
I imagine this is the kind of sentiment that really scares the Israeli government and probably the people of Israel. Most people didn’t really care before but now everyone has an opinion on Israel and it’s generally not good. Potential political isolation aside, the social isolation’s gonna be a big problem for them too.
Most moral army in the world
A friend in high school made nude drawings of another mutual friend. It was weird he showed me but he was generally an artsy guy and I knew he was REALLY into this girl and it was kind of in the context of showing he his art work. I reconnected with the girl years later and talked about this and while she said it was weird she didn’t really think much of it. Rather, the creepy part to her was that he showed people.
I don’t think we can stop horny teens from making horny content about their classmates, heck, I know multiple girls who wrote erotic stories featuring classmates. The sharing (and realism) is what turns the creepy but kind of understandable teenage behavior into something we need to deal with
You joke, but in Malaysia, they do have a car named after the local word for mouse deers, kancil (the “c” is pronounced as a “ch”). I learned to drive in one of those.looks like this
After trying a search, opened Lemmy to see if it was my connection, immediately see this meme. Thanks for the troubleshooting confirmation Lemmy
Crypto - Meh, I have digital banking and payment processing already, with easy enough international transfers. I’m good.
AI - I see the possibilities, I think we should continue to develop it even if just for the medical applications of machine learning. Right now people just like playing with it, but, privacy issues aside, I don’t think it’s a waste.
Yeah, maybe some kind of situation where you turn it on for “training time” with access to only specified files and systems on the computer, no internet access, etc. At the same time though, I wonder how much an AI could really streamline things. Would it just pre-load my frequent files and programs? Make suggestions or reminders on tasks? I don’t think we’re anywhere near the level where it could actually be doing work for me yet.
Interesting possibilities, but I’m not sure how useful yet.
I hate this but I also get it.
A little while ago on the TWIT podcast one of the guests, or maybe Leo himself, was talking about how this is exactly what they want out of AI, for it to be able to know how they use their computer and just streamline everything. Some people are really excited about the possibilities, and yeah, the AI needs to track whatever you’re doing to know how to help you with your work flow.
That said, I don’t want Microsoft keeping track of everything I’m doing. They’ve already shown that they’re willing to sell our data and shove ads down our throats, so as much as they say we can filter out what we don’t want tracked, I’m not inclined to trust or believe them.
That’s exactly how I think of it, so strange someone downvoted you
IIRC, that was actually the plan. I remember Microsoft saying way back that 10 would be the last version of Windows and everything would be just upgrades to 10 moving forward.
You’re having trouble managing all your usernames and passwords? Have you tried another app to manage all of them? /s (but also I do like my password manager)
As someone who struggled with analog clocks into my twenties, being able to see the hands move gives me a better sense of time passing and I remember reading stuff that supported that. I have a better sense how much time I have left for something looking at analog vs digital basically and it’s a fairly common experience apparently
