Privacy@lemmy.ml•The EU is about to sell your most sensitive data to the US for visa-free travel - European Digital Rights (EDRi)
3·3 天前I don’t think so.
Here in Slovakia, the EU is viewed very favourably for a reason. We can work freely in whichever EEA country we want, take a walk to neighboring countries without any border checks or just freight forward a laptop that doesn’t ship here to Wolfsthal and pick it up there. That’s the beauty of it.
Also our Brussels overlords didn’t outsource age checks to external companies, unlike the rest of the first world.
Also if the Eurofunds money isn’t misplaced to serve high-ranking politicians only, some amazing things can be achieved with it.
AFAIK you can can discover public channels through their channel directory.
If you really have ťo activate Windows:

Travel to that country is getting more painful day by day. You need to give them all social media handles you’ve used in the last 5 years (which I don’t fully remember/forgot) and possibly even more. Other countries with an eVisa system just ask you for your passport number and a fee.
Fuck it, I’ll go somewhere where I don’t need that BS, like Austria, which I literally have a train ride away (or I can take a walk there).

2·30 天前The Instagram app tracks you by using some undocumented Android features. In the browser if you have adblocker installed/integrated (like in Firefox/Vanadium/Lion Browser), it can block you ads and Meta tracking BS.
At least you can do something useful with Claude.

2·1 个月前Pls stop using it in an app. Use it in a browser.
But don’t worry! All you need to do is give them all your private information, your passport, your driver’s license, and your first born and it’ll all be fine!
Weird. I had to solve a bunch of CAPTCHAs and also I have a limited set of services I use daily.

4·1 个月前It seems the UK really needs the EU oversight. Ever since they left the country has gone to shit. And I was there after 2020 in London and despite what my parents told me, the city was shit (literally any mainland European city is better), it took a day to get out of the city by car and when got out, there was uncollected rubbish on the side of the motorway. Also there were so many CCTVs, many of which lacked the accompanying privacy notice (yes, they have GDPR, but they’ve gutted it).
[…] They apper to be stored on Meta servers. […]
Afaik default behaviour on Android is that it backs up to GDrive by default.

This is everywhere. If the mods have big ego, then you can’t do anything with that.
I mean, the behavior of the community speaks for itself. They try so hard not being the thing they ran from three years ago, but in the midst of their attempt, they end up evolving into the very thing they ran from.
Welcome to the internet.
Its like they just didn’t like being on the platform of origin, promised they’d do better, then realizing how separated they are to where they just recreated it by instinct.
You can still host your own instance.
I can just go on and on and on. Oh and I don’t even care about this stupid debate that happened between .ML and .World because there’s virtually no difference and it is just nothing but a sissy online slapfight.
One’s waaay on the left (that’s what ml stands for - marxist-leninist) and the other is too general.
Anyway, go touch grass.

No. Just move up north to Canada or get a golden visa on the other side of the Atlantic.

1·1 个月前This is the usecase I still use WhatsApp for, since it has location sharing without Play services and works on GrapheneOS.

I’m saying this because some people don’t consider AOSP a Linux distribution.
