Cats have spines but are bendy… Hmmm…

I really don’t buy this. It’s the same sort of bullshit logic of robots exploding when they read contradictory logical statements. I don’t really believe we’re in a simulation but I see no reason why, given infinite storage, time, and processing power, some higher reality couldn’t be simulating what we live in.

What I’m saying is that it sounds like lying. If you say “Hey, is KelvarCherry legit?” And they say “no” they’re lying, but if they say “you’re not allowed to verify users” that seems fine.
You can argue that enabled bad practices but it also enabled many good things in gaming.

The whole way Mojang “bans” servers is by marking certain IPs to always be told the connecting account is invalid.
Do they do that or just return an error? Because as described that sounds illegal.

What you’re making is a slippery slope argument that doesn’t really hold water.
Is it though? Like, really, is it? In the US the government is possibly doing shit like labeling transgender people as nihilistic violent extremists. The Project 2025 shit is coming fast. I really don’t like people using racial slurs either. But the idea that it could be very soon that things like speaking about some LGBTQ topics gets policed more and corporations go along with it is not as far fetched as it seems. A year ago I’d probably have a different opinion.
And I wanna be clear, I’m not defending people using slurs. I think it’s fine for Microsoft to not host that server on a public list of servers, I guess. I’m really just saying the slope is more slippery than previously thanks to the MAGA crowd. I’m not really sure how I feel about it all, I’m still in the cognitive dissonance phase as my mind works out where I really stand. I’ve been lucky enough that speech I consider acceptable has been what speech others considered acceptable for my whole life, but the idea that queer topics come under fire isn’t crazy.

I left cobwebs up for my Halloween party and one of them even caught a hornet in it. Thank you spiders! Very cool!

Nah, engineering wise you can’t verify if a man actually has taken a pill and the sad reality is that women get stuck with the child and abortion rights are under attack. It’s like trying to implement authorization without any way to verify that the user is actually authorized. You can’t just go on vibes alone.

Please do not eat the condom.

I do think that birth control pills having 1 week of sugar pills to force periods rather than 1 week of optional pills to allow skipping periods is pretty fucked up though. The term conspiracy is pretty intense though. But it’s super fucked.

I know a lot of people who take birth control pills to regulate their bodies rather than prevent pregnancy.
Counterpoint, you can categorize chess as a game and not a sport while still acknowledging it’s difficult and worthwhile.
I’ll bite. If you want to pick a singular thing to point at and say it’s ruined gaming you should be more upset about micro transactions, especially those in mobile gaming. We live in an era where so many people have a device that is physically more capable than the handheld gaming devices of the past but the entire mobile gaming market is just slop meant to be addictive and extract as much money from you as possible. Imagine a world where Nintendo was making mainline Pokémon games for phones. What if X, Y, Sun, and Moon weren’t made for the 3ds but for phones (or both).

I was born in 1991. For me, it’s gotta be 9/11. I can’t really specifically remember anything from before that, and I was only 9 when it happened, so I didn’t really pay much attention to the news.
There was a time I was on the news because my grandfather got asked about something at the airport. I have no idea what it was or if it was before. But it certainly wasn’t major and either way I don’t remember the actual story that happened. If I had to guess it was something about asking people about airline delays, but that’s genuinely just a guess.

The comment said why not go open source, not why not go source available though.

Lawnmowers count? lol

Which also is a type of clutch obviously, but not what people usually refer to when they use the term clutch.
So many internet arguments come down to this sort of thing.

My first car was a 1972 Toyota Corolla! I fondly remember driving my first pet, Max, on good ol’ Pine Lane, where I grew up, to go see my mother Joan Hart, who retook her maiden name after divorcing my father!

I’d love to see that but realistically I don’t ever see it happening.
Use this tool to make an azimuthal projection from your location. It’s really trippy. It helps you better make sense of routes like these. https://ns6t.net/azimuth/
