  • Happened to me once. Nearly killed my desire to discuss firearms here on Lemmy. Not sure if this is true, but I feel that most people on Lemmy are likely anti-gun. Maybe the more liberal mindset of many people in the wider open source community has some part in it. Either way, I just want to dispel all the false claims about guns and their ownership. And some don’t want to hear it.

Had some windows users loving the Cinnamon DE on Mint. They managed to get right into it straight away. Plus, on most Linux distros they come with easy to use package managers. And you can still get deb or rpm packages that can be used to install applications just like a windows installer exe.

  • Certainly looks better than the average indie game. And before you come at me for saying that.

Indie is often touted as “better than AAA”. But in order for that to be the case, they need to at least offer something similar first. But most indie games are so far removed from even the average AAA game, that its basically apples and oranges.

AA, or mid-tier, is really where its at. Some of the best games in recent years have all been from the AA space. Even ones that launched rough like Elden Ring and Cyberpunk.

They are still leagues above the average indie game that most people here and “the site that shall not be named” tend to list off as their favourites.

So yes, Elden Ring indeed does have great graphics. Not the most cutting edge, but at least it looks like it belongs in the same generation as its competitors.

  • I think Bethesda, and really all other RPGs could benefit from being basically sandboxes without any real “main quest”.

Make it about me and what I want to be in this fantasy world. Not what lame ass story the writers shat out to meet deadlines.

Lore, not linear stories. World building and evironmental story telling, not a tiny fish bowl with little exploration.

I mean, the main quest is like 10 percent of the game and playtime for most players. The remaining 90 percent is exploring, side quests, meeting interesting people, and obtaining power and fame. All of which happen on account of the player and their own story they want to tell in the dev’s world.
