politics @lemmy.world•Ehud Barak Had a Very Close Friendship With Jeffrey Epstein
2·1 month agoIf I say I have notes on powerful people and say that empowers me, that’s bragging. Not blackmail, because those people might not even know. If I were to say it to those powerful people, it could be perceived as threatening. But it’s not blackmail, as I don’t demand anything. If I were to use those notes to get something done: that’s blackmail.

politics @lemmy.world•Ehud Barak Had a Very Close Friendship With Jeffrey Epstein
21·1 month agoThe NYT is just reporting what’s ‘fit to print’. Unless there’s verified proof of actual blackmail this description seems apt. Saying you have information on people and you may use it is not blackmail, as that would require a direct request.

Technology@beehaw.org•Framework is teasing a ‘big’ update for August 26th — could it be Framework 16?
91·7 months agoThe announcement states it’s a new product.
Nytimes says basically the same: “In fact, it would be hard to imagine an event that could have gone better from the point of view of the Russian leader, who made no public commitment to stop his assault on Ukraine and yet was treated as a valued friend. Mr. Trump did not fault Mr. Putin for starting the brutal war and left without mentioning the sanctions that just hours earlier he had threatened to impose if there were no deal.”

politics @lemmy.world•Trump has sat for only 12 daily intelligence briefings since taking office
3·10 months agoEach president is different in the manner and pace at which they receive their briefings, and Trump is not entirely out of step with some of his predecessors.
But with Trump, there is added concern as he is known not to read the accompanying briefing document, referred to as “the book,” that is put together by intelligence analysts in a highly labor-intensive process. This document is delivered in hard copy or on a tablet device to the president and his key advisers five days a week.

91·11 months agoIt started on 4chan, only moved to 8chan (likely a different poster) much later.
See for example: https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/tech-news/how-three-conspiracy-theorists-took-q-sparked-qanon-n9005
Q posts moved from 4chan to its more toxic offshoot 8chan in November after a post claiming the original board had been “infiltrated.”

313·1 year agoSome people may think that, but from the video it is not clear. He just mentions Elon knows computers very well. There will be enough real news with president Trump, we don’t need this kind of journalism.

I very much understand how one can think this would revert any changes done to files under version control but not delete the ones that are not. I believe this dialog has since been updated to explicitly state that fact.

This is misleading, there is no investigation. They just review some additional documents flagged by the public. So the strategy now is to release documents only when their existence can no longer be denied.
