31·3 months agoI’m not typically a fan of overly loud exhausts, but when it’s sensible I can make an exception. My WRX is, to my knowledge, all stock. When I start out up, it’s slightly louder than the average car, but the tone is very low and smooth. From inside the car, it sounds beautiful. Nothing like the typical Infiniti muffler-delete that makes my eardrums bleed.

3·3 months agoIt’s close, but the hue is just red enough for my book. I won’t argue with anyone calling it blonde though. The official box art (both JP and NTSC) shows her slightly more orange than the sprite too.

World News@lemmy.world•Teenager jailed for playing anti-Kremlin song on the streets of St PetersburgEnglish
11·4 months agoHistorically, the USSR would broadcast a recording of the ballet Swan Lake (on loop I think?) when their leader died, and it was also broadcast during the failed coup in 1991. The lyrics in the song that the teenager played, assuming the above translation is correct, are a not-so-subtle call for a certain kind of event…

3·4 months agoI remember hearing about two Sims-likes that were gaining traction, then one turned out to be ai-filled dogshit. I don’t remember what either one was called though. Are you aware of any Sims-likes that are genuinely good, single player only, and not ai trash?
For now, these features support English only, making premium AI more accessible and flexible for everyone.
They can’t be serious, right?

4·6 months agoThe good (horrible) thing about deepfakes is that pretty much anyone can produce them.
Disclaimer: I am also vehemently against AI-generated garbage, but it is a curious double-standard that the conservatives embrace, which could be easily leveraged against them by many, many pissed off people 🤔

It’s been a while for me but I should hop back on to Ephinea to scratch the old itch
I never implied that therapy is a shameful pursuit. And yeah, people have the right to do any legal activity in their private life, but—to take your m&ms analogy a step further—if you knew a guy was shoving a glass jar up his ass, don’t you think we should try to help him find safer ways of seeking pleasure, especially now that we’re armed with the knowledge that another guy posted his gruesome experience doing the same thing years ago?
My point is that if I was unknowingly on a slippery slope I would hope people would feel a sense of humanly duty to intervene. Or at the very least have a conversation about it.
We shouldn’t judge them for getting to this point, but we also shouldn’t just leave them be. People like the one in the screenshot are clearly in need of therapy.
We already saw the story of the guy who poisoned himself with sodium bromide at the “advice” of chatgpt. What kind of outward damage could someone who confides in a chatbot be capable of?

7·6 months agoAnother really good one that I’ve watched at least 4 times is his Polybius video. He’s an incredible documentarian and an equally great researcher.
I’m sure some of the Polybius one was dramatized a little (apart from what was clearly labeled as actors reading the transcripts), but it makes for an unforgettable watch. And the music!!

Fediverse@lemmy.world•What's a good instance to be on at the moment?English
16·8 months agoJust gonna pitch in here, but I’m no expert. I was reading people’s reactions when that TLD was introduced, and they raised concerns over the possibility that a bad actor could spoof an address that actually downloads a .zip file to your device when you click the link, even though you may assume it’s an address to a page. No idea what a hypothetical virus could do from a compressed environment, but thats what I remember reading.
Sorry to any experts if I’m muddying the waters with a dumb take!

😧 "I’m a giant piece of shit!”
