What the fuck kind of business does a grocery store have to store people’s biometric data? Fuck that.

Yeah i was going to recommend Kubuntu but the 24.04 LTS is a bit outdated although it’s very stable.
Fedora might be a better alternative.

Don’t forget the shit in his pants, too.

In most companies, your contract forbids you from talking about your employer on social platforms or in the media if it’s going to affect the company’s reputation.

I’ve completed the update and… just… WOW!
What the fuck dude? Everything is so FAST now. Like it’s almost predicting what I’m about to do. It’s insane!
And the games are WAAAY faster. Performance wise it’s incredible. Holy shit!

Thanks for your advice! :)

Yeah, that was my philosophy. But there’s been some really great advancements since 24.04. Especially with KDE Plasma. I kinda want to have some of those latest features from version 6.
What distro did you end up moving to from Ubuntu?

Yeah. I don’t want to keep up with changes and shit. I want something stable and hassle free. I don’t have time to tinker with my OS anymore.
So you think I shouldn’t upgrade to 25.10 then?

Well I’m upgrading right now!

Friendica isn’t that great in my experience. I thought it’d make a good facebook replacement, but it’s missing groups and pages as a feature.
As for peertube, I have yet to find an instance that would allow me to create an account so I can follow channels and comment. And yes, I know I can comment with my other accounts like Mastodon. But the average person won’t understand it that way because they’re not used to that paradigm. And I much prefer to have an account for each platform myself.

True. As I mentioned to someone else, I can always take a snapshot with TimeShift with my BTRFS partitions, upgrade, test it out, and roll back if it breaks.
Or, like you suggest, create an image, install another distro, try it, and revert with the image if I don’t like it. But that just takes a lot of time I don’t necessarily have though.

Yeah, but Debian is newer now than Ubuntu. It doesn’t have snaps, is stable as hell, and honestly I don’t think it’s a major problem if it’s not updated in 2 years considering it would have what I’m looking forward to. (I think) Like HDR support for example.

You mean 25.10?
Yeah I got BTRFS. I already took a snapshot. I could upgrade and rollback if anything goes wrong, right?

Will that still be supported with Wayland?

There’s be some rivalry between Wisconsin and Québec regarding who makes the best cheese curds.

I’ve been a hard-core Ubuntu fan for a long time but it’s starting to change.
Might just install stock Debian because I’m used to the way it works and the apt and deb package system.
Was also debating between OpenSUSE and Fedora. But apparently OpenSUSE is making significant changes that might not make it as good.
Meh, why switch? Fedora is already pretty ahead while still being very stable.
You lose that stability with a rolling distro. You’ll end up having to spend your time fixing things more than enjoying your OS.
I’d stick with fedora if I were you.
