52·4 months agoThe Voyager missions are honestly one of humanity‘s greatest achievements. That they are still operating so long past their original design and that they were designed with such pure scientific curiosity in the first place.

9·4 months agoThis is great advice. Just be careful not to heat it back up in a plastic container. Dump it into glass or ceramic before reheating.

123·4 months ago“urged Christians not to retreat into a closed or “religious” world of their own, but to help make human society ‘a space of fraternity and dignity for all, without exception.’”
He seems like a good dude. I wish Christians would listen to him.

Not The Onion@lemmy.world•United Airlines says a window seat doesn't need to have a window.English
31·4 months agoCall it “priority seating”, let them board the plane early, and charge extra for it. Based on the kindergarten-level aggression in the boarding lines I think people would still be fighting over them even without a window.

27·4 months ago“This week, our employer has been prominent in the headlines as Alphabet stock reached a record high. We, the workers who generate those profits, deserve to feel secure in our employment. While we celebrate the fact that our organizing is working, with our demand to offer voluntary buyouts before mandatory layoffs becoming a new company standard, we know that the fight is far from over. “
Apparently, Google has agreed to offer a VEP rather than issue more layoffs?

Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft Teams can record office presence from DecemberEnglish
16·5 months agoThis seems like surveillance disguised as a mostly useless feature. If you are in the office and logging into a video call, you’re probably using the hardware in a conference room and not your own laptop. That hardware will already display the room you are calling from to everyone on the call.
The only reason for this feature is to tattle on people who aren’t where they say they are.

They started the crowdfunding campaign quite a while ago. Apparently it just got unveiled.
