I love the sentiment, but I always shy away from this particular quote, simply because it is unsubstantiated:

Linux@programming.dev•Linux players on Steam hit an all-time high for November 2025
11·2 months agoThis. The problem is Windows can’t read ext4 or Btrfs, and though Linux can handle NTFS, it isn’t great.
When I was first switching to Linux a few years ago, I did have a shared library using NTFS. It mostly just worked, but the occasional game would refuse to start, and I had no issues once I was no longer using NTFS.
Goodbye, Farewell and Amen (the last episode) holds up well as some of the best TV ever made. They really ended on a high note unlike so many more modern series.

Games@lemmy.world•Valve Addresses Steam Machine Anti-Cheat Concerns, Says It's Working Towards SupportEnglish
24·3 months agoOn the one hand, I don’t give a fuck about anti-cheat, because games using the kernel-level version tend to be giant multiplayer cesspools of little value.
On the other hand, I want Windows to lose the war.
I hope Valve can find the balance between these two extremes.

politics @lemmy.world•Republican lawmakers grow alarmed over signs of 2026 election wipeout
45·3 months agoThe US system is so horrendously and completely biased towards the GOP, I don’t think polls mean much. Most of the country can not want a Republican and they’ll still be “fairly” elected.
I know we’re talking about midterms, but this is especially true of the Electoral College, where states with lower populations end up with higher representation per capita. Empty land doesn’t vote, but it does change elections in favor of the GOP.

Technology@lemmy.world•Screw it, I’m installing LinuxEnglish
7·3 months agoIt was for me as well. Proton has been mostly there for years. I’m about to hit year 4 of gaming only on Linux.
I think the last hold out is kernel-level anti-cheat. Hoping it just goes away and consumers stop supporting it. One can dream.
