  • I understand your point. The reality is that I should have made the meme both “yes.” I’m not trying to detract from the horrors in Gaza. The reality is that my own personal situation suddenly became more real than it ever had before, and I had some knee jerk reactions. I by no means intended to excuse anything. The point here was that by electing that moron, multiple genocides have not only been enabled, but encouraged. I also wanted to bring up conversation around the other legal definition of genocide, which is cultural erasure (See: Uyghurs) that very much is in the cards for people like me.

    Think about this ad, which was nationally aired that not only discourages the mental healthcare of prisoners, but deliberately attacks the entire idea that people that are trans need help or are, in fact people:

    https://youtu.be/lhnHt1NB0M0?si=78yAlrtfC1ZNikrJ

    The preemptive Trump administration, through this ad, has explicitly stated that every trans person in any state of being is to be reviled, hated, and denied any respect. Policies are likely imminent that will likely put trans people at risk regarding rights, physical safety, legal representation, and overall well-being.

    For reference, this is a thing: https://elan.school/ - it is heart breaking, but the infrastructure and desire to force young LGBTQ+ people into a system like this is already there. It is already happening. Now, with all 3 branches of government fully under the control of people that want to see this happen (with things like conversion therapy camps), there is no logical reason why they wouldn’t just implement such.

  • Ethnic cleansing, orientation or gender cleansing, I see them as the same. thing. Ever have someone physically assault you for pissing? The drive for murder and erasure is literally on the same scale. The difference has been the backing of a state. Now, that may very well change. We will now have idiots with guns threatening us to to “be normal.” And no, it’s not a comparable horror… yet. I fear for my life constantly.

    And, again, I’d like to posit the other meaning of genocide - cultural erasure. This, I think, is very likely.

  • I, obviously, disagree here. It’s all horrible. However, I have every incentive to vote for my own well being. My point in that statement wasn’t necessarily that it would be worse (I probably should have phrased things better, but I’m no writer), but I do think it could potentially be more impactful for the “West” in the sense that the US could, potentially, devolve into a state similar to Russia (or a large number of nation states) where anyone who is not straight or cisgendered will be persecuted to the point of erasure. And in my personal case, though I know this is anecdotal, potential murder.

  • Ok, I understand that this is a shitpost. I also understand that the intent is to be encouraging. I think Mr. Rogers would understand that and perhaps support it. What I really don’t agree with here is mincing the words of probably the only person that the entirety of the US is not only OK with, but supports. In the US, be you Liberal, GQP, or whatever middle or adjacent views you have - this is the most loved person in all of media.

    There are hundreds of quotes from him that anyone with an IQ over 20 universally agree with. I know that this is kind of a rant; but please let his words, and only his words, speak for themselves;
