Got to be Apple slowing down older iPhones to mask battery degradation, and hoping no one would notice.

Squeeze the can until it flies up and lands in your mouth.

Me too, I used to live in the city where everything was within 10 minutes, took the bus every day to work.
Only downside was living with so many people in an enclosed space there was constant noise. But that was before noise cancelling headphones and triple glazing, so may be better now.

I’m going to sound like a carnivore on a Vegan sub now, but genuinely I’m disabled and not easily able to use the bike/transport options.
Apparently 36 minutes walk away from my nearest train station if I walk on a grass verge on a 60mph road with no pavement, there is a bus but that is 28 minutes to the train station with a change of bus and 9 minute walk.
I could probably manage the 2nd option, but not a lot else for the rest of the morning.

What if my home is powered by solar and a home battery, and my car is an EV? I basically have a personal generator and it’s fantastic, it’s just not Diesel, same for the car.

I don’t think I ever said they were particularly bad… just stating facts here. The opinion that “every major news channel is like this” however is troubling. All news channels have their influences, you just have to identify what they are and adjust critical thinking accordingly.

A news channel created by the state of Qatar and initially staffed by ex BBC presenters who were paid massive amounts to attempt to astroturf over their human rights abuses and corruption.
Edit: forgot to add, Qatar also imposes censorship on journalism and uses Al Jazeera to push their “truth”. Hence the irony.

Is this an application to join? If so I need to send a quick message to the EU from the UK.
If you’re looking for this in the paint isle it’s called magnolia

That’s fair enough, I had a headphone to lightening adapter permanently plugged into my headphones for about a year… I went through a pair of headphones about once every 2 years, the cable would get snagged on or trapped in something eventually. Had AirPods for 5 years… I’d say in another year I’d probably be at the break-even point from an e-waste perspective, but I’d probably have to keep them for another 15 years to make up the price difference.

Would a USB-C to headphone Jack converter open up your options? You can buy one with usb pass through to charge and listen at the same time. I really wanted to keep my headphone jack but I’ve gone to Bluetooth and it’s pretty good tbh
I genuinely thought this was satire, never heard of either and have only just started with LibreWolf… now I have more options to research!

So they didn’t drop the request for backdoor access to user data, just amended it a little.
Not long before Great Britain will be renamed Airstrip One.

Yup - so anyone donating more than $10 a year gets 10 years in prison. Also your £10 is 100% tax deductible, if you don’t earn enough to pay any tax then you get an extra $10 in state benefit if you donate it to someone running for office.
Wouldn’t it be nice for campaign funds to be used for shoe leather, emails and flyers, rather than attack ads on every website and TV station.
at some point you have to realise that the political system is corrupt and money needs to be removed, or you’re only doing what about 100 people want, instead of the 330 million.

It’s so depressing how money influences politics, every citizen should be able to donate $10 a year, and that’s it. No corporate money no PACs, you want to get your message out, you need to actually engage with your constituents on a personal level and earn their support.
Thanks - 22.1 is getting installed today.
Thanks - I’m hoping to get all my household machines switched over, maybe look at a HomeServer install.
If all goes well then my parents and extended family are getting upgrades from Win10. I set them all up with decent laptops in the last 5-15 years with SSDs, wifi6/7 and maxed out memory upgrades. If it wasn’t for TPM2 required for Win11 and Win10 EOL things sure would be different.
Perfect - thank you!
Ok - thank you, I think I’m going to be learning a lot in the next month. I last used RHEL for work about 5 years ago and it was a really niche application, I didn’t really explore the OS too much, and OS updates were not my responsibility.
I’m going to respectfully disagree; had the phone kept shutting down you would have gone to Apple or a 3rd party repairer and got a new battery for 30-80£€$.
By masking the real issue and just giving you a poor experience, you wonder if it was always like that, or if there is something wrong at all, maybe you compare it with a snappy new phone and decide to upgrade for 1000£€$
