Honestly, with a 4k TV and a MiSTer, you can do some amazing things with shadowmasks and scanline filters, it looks good. And still, very very little latency (I can beat Tyson in Punch Out on an LCD display, no issues – try that on Lakka)

Look into a MiSTer FPGA. It’s way better than a pi (latency!) for everything up to ps1/n64/Saturn

Debian’s awesome for servers because you want the stability; but for gaming, you generally want nice fresh packages, updated drivers, etc etc. I’d use Bazzite or Nobara – the former if you’re comfortable with immutable/atomic paradigm, the latter if not.

They absolutely do, which is why the vast, vast majority of content is obfuscated, necessitating the use of indexers.

It’s excellent. There’s missing art assets (placeholder graphics, especially noticeable with the keepsakes - they’re all just gold rings with a single letter pricetag rn), but the gameplay loop is great, the mechanics all appear to be in place and the audio is incredible (just wait until the zone 2 boss fight).

It absolutely feels like a worthy successor to the original. Mel plays very differently than Zag, but the controls are no less tight. God Mode returns if you dislike “git gud”.

Playing it on my Steamdeck, and thoroughly enjoying it.

Focus on the jokers, NOT the hands. You can easily win the first few stakes with a high card build.

Also remember that cards are scored left-to-right, so chip jokers on the left, mult jokers on the right.

Card Sharp is a very powerful early joker, imo.
