Thanks. :)
DISCLAIMER: I don’t respond to rude, snarky, or otherwise immature and mean-spirited replies. I block and ignore. Adults who want to engage with me in a mature and civil manner (even if we happen to disagree on a topic) are always welcome.

Thanks. :)

Were that to happen, I imagine it would be a relatively simple matter to move everything out of state, or even out of the country if need be.

No one is going to enforce this. It’s political theater, and will in no way protect children.
You can easily make it so that you never see any downvotes via the Lemmy settings. Or, you can move to a Lemmy instance that doesn’t allow downvoting.

I agree that our conversation was perfectly civil (which I appreciate). I did delete my posts as I didn’t feel like my opinion was appreciated in this area. No hard feelings whatsoever.

Correction: All it takes is for enough apathy from the people to allow such treason to exist in the first place. You get what you give.

Requested (and received) all of my data last week, then promptly cancelled my account. I know I’m going to miss out on all of the communities that still decide to stay on Discord - but that says far more about THEM than it does about ME.
It really depends on the company you’re applying to. If it’s a small business? Yeah, no. They usually can’t afford or don’t want to bother with a vetting agency. If it’s some big corporation? Sure, they’ll probably do that. At the end of the day though, it’s a question of how suspicious you or your resume look that will decide how much energy they want to put in to vetting the claims you make.
You’re assuming that the HR department is diligent and willing to expend the energy to track you, and the other three hundred candidates’ information down for this single role. In my experience, this is a wild assumption.

Jesus Christ this hits hard… 😢
In my experience, this is pretty much the entirety of the internet.

Life is making mistakes and deciding how to live with them. :)

There have been times in my life where I was happy but didn’t realize it until it was too late, so this checks out.
The thing that put me off of Tuta is that you cannot use it with any other mail client (like Thunderbird, for example).
Posteo really doesn’t get enough acknowledgment, in my opinion. They’re a great and secure email service that seems to fly under the radar for most people. I recommend checking them out.
My guess is that this has more to do with the slew of recent bans on social media for youngsters. Think of all that lost ad revenue!
