    • Steam: 1325
    • GoG: 174
    • Epic: 406

Epic and GoG I’ve not bought a single thing from either of them, that’s all free shit. For Steam, most of that is stuff that’s been accumulated from Humble Bundles and just from having an account for ~20 years now. If I were to just quit my job and game full-time for the rest of my life, there’s probably more games to play in my collection than I have years left to live.

On one level, I sympathize with companies like Nintendo, I don’t want to, BUT companies are supposed to make efforts to protect their IP or they run the risk of losing those exclusive protections when it matters later on (abandonment). So if they want to continue their IP rights, they’re supposed to defend it against anything that comes along. I still don’t like it, but I kind of understand why they have to do it.

Granted, I think they could come up with some sort of licensing terms that would made it easy for solo developers to still develop small-time projects to encourage people to create these one-off labors of love, similar to what alot of TTRPG developers do, but for whatever reason, they go the hardball approach, which just creates bad feelings in the community.

  • This is going to fuck up the healthcare industry (along with many others) and it’s going to hit alot of Americans hard. There’s millions of immigrant home health aides across the country that help care for mentally disabled and elderly Americans. Start taking away those aides and suddenly you’ve got Americans struggling to find anybody to watch their family members, causing them to have to choose between work and caring for a relative. It’s going to be a shitshow if they actually follow through with this.

The only silver lining I can see is that it might actually open Americans’ eyes to how much they actually need immigrants after everything goes to shit, but I’m sure the ignorant will just go on to blame some other group for the resulting fallout.

Going to the doctor half the time feels like a waste anyways. No matter how sick I am, I’m never given medicine or antibiotics and I’m always told to wait a week to see if it gets worse. It already had to be a big deal for me to go the first time around, I’m basically done after that and resigned to suffering without help. The worst was when I had been perpetually sick with something for 5+ weeks right before Covid first hit, never got anything and doctor was just like, “Yeah, some colds or flus can go for that long.”

For physical injuries though, that shit is important and that seems like something they can treat, but anything else it’s just, “You’re on your own, good luck!”
