Games@sh.itjust.works•Netflix to acquire Warner Bros.English
3·4 months agoYeah, this I believe. I saw the news that they sold one of their studios back to the original owners while still publishing the game they were developing. I must have missed the news about them downsizing their in-house stuff.
I looked up what studios they would be acquiring under the WB merger and uh…outside of the new Mortal Kombat, Hogwarts Legacy, and the DC games…I don’t really know if they’re going to make a big dent in the gaming sphere immediately. A lot of these already look pretty mismanaged, maybe it could get worse, but it could also get better.
But if we’re worried about moving towards even more subscription-based cloud gaming…yeah…looking at the state of gaming and hardware right now, I can’t argue with you there.

4·4 months agoHasn’t Netflix been “in gaming” a while? You can access a lot of games on mobile from them. I opened my Netflix Android app and just from the suggested I can play Red Dead Redemption, Story Teller, Dead Cells, Spirit Fairer, Shredder’s Revenge, Street Fighter, and bunch of Choose your own Adventure type stuff from their own IPs. They’ve been angling in to game publishing for a while.

Technology@lemmy.world•Windows 11 Finally Fixes "Update and Shut Down" Functionality After a DecadeEnglish
71·5 months agoI thought that they were joking, as stuff like this also happens in open software and can take ages to fix (if it’s even kept up to date for a lot of niche software), and most of us use SOME sort proprietary software even if there’s a bigger % of open source enthusiasts on Lemmy.
That’s why the Android/iOS comment was even more out of place.
But then again, this is Lemmy…it might have been literal…

1·6 months agoYou conveniently ignored my other point regarding how much of the electorate actually counts, but sure.
He got the popular vote in 2024. Not against Hillary in 2017. That’s my whole point, this whole situation would not even be happening if the presidential election system in the US wasn’t such a mess.

43·6 months agoNo, they didn’t? Like only 1/3 of the states actually “matter” during an election because of the electoral college, and they are all gerrymandered to shit thanks to Republican redistricting efforts and suppressed via ID laws going all the way back to Reagan, if not earlier.
Voters are a convenient scapegoat, but remember, Clinton won the popular vote in 2016. There shouldn’t even have been a first Trump term in an actual representative democracy, and opposition Dems barely moved the needle to safeguard any future elections from another term of this shit.

15·6 months agoYeah no joke, when No Child Left Behind was implemented by Bush 2, I remember both my parents discussing how it’s gonna lead to a dumber society within a decade or two, in a “Our nursing home is gonna be run by morons LOL” kind of way. I was waaaay too young to actually understand what they were talking about, but damn were they right.

Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Who is easier to pirate from, Big ISPs or Small ISPs?English
3·6 months agoYeah, sometimes the pedants of Lemmy get a bit grating (I’m guilty of it myself). Most people were able to understand that OP was asking whether smaller or larger internet service providers are easier to use for piracy without detection. Most who didn’t get that context scrolled past.
That being said… OP’s replies are hilarious LMFAO wtf is that shit

World News@lemmy.world•Germany approves €2.46m in arms exports to Israel after partial haltEnglish
7·6 months agoThat’s just it, I don’t know. And the government is being deliberately vague instead of just saying what they are shipping to Israel, or sending auxiliary weapons that are still being used in direct combat.
I pulled that quote because I want to emphasize that it is not as transparent as your original comment is making it seem.

World News@lemmy.world•Germany approves €2.46m in arms exports to Israel after partial haltEnglish
121·6 months agoThe exact nature of the goods remains unclear. The ministry’s response lists eight categories, including rockets, torpedoes, warships and naval equipment. But as the exports are not classified as weapons of war and the total value is relatively small, the shipments likely involve accessories or equipment.
I wouldn’t call sending rockets and warships as “no weapons” just because the government says they’re not.
What happened with Firefox?
I think OP meant use Safari with the Apple’s Privacy Relay thing that hides your IP and generalizes location data into a larger area, not just regular “private mode” that Safari has. Too bad it’s subscription only on iCloud+, and who knows if it actually works as well as Apple claims it does.

Wow, prolific sex pest Brett Ratner made a documentary about another sex pest’s wife? AND Amazon is distributing it? Just a list of deplorables, isn’t it?
