It’s not pointless. I make a claim and you’re free to refute it. I’ve already done the research to make myself a secondary source, so you either believe me or your provide a conflicting source.

I actually witnessed the perfect exchange today. Someone made a claim. Someone else said, “Hey, this source I found suggests you’re wrong.”

The original commenter said, “here’s my source that contradicts that.”

This is my method. If I sat something you disagree with, call me on it with a source to refute me.

Don’t ask me to type 4 words into Google for you. If your request for information can be completed with one hand, go fuck yourself. This is literally the point of “do your own research.”

I was on unemployment for about 7 months and I didn’t feel the least bit guilty because I had been paying into it for 20 years. Well, technically my employers paid it, but they paid it with the results of my labor.

Although I did work a temp job doing physical labor during that, but it was mostly an effort to get a full time position in my career at that employer (it worked). Plus it helped with the depression from sending out hundreds of applications without getting a single interview.

It really depends. You just have to have the right boss and know when to work hard and when to coast.

For instance, for me hard work meant I was progressively promoted from a customer service agent to senior IT engineer within 5 years. But after that my upward mobility was capped, so I just coasted.
