After ending their collective-bargaining agreements, the Environmental Protection Agency ordered employees to seek prior approval for protected union activities on non-duty time.
I have an inside line at the EPA that administrators are now tracking what websites employees visit on their work machines and wanted to know, specifically, if employees visited “standupforscience.org”.
Your inside line needs to go around and go to all the prohibited sites when they find users with unlocked computers.
Bonus points if they can plant a task that routinely checks in with a background process to said sites. Shouldn’t need any kind of admin rights to run a web browser, and they have to have at least one whitelisted even if they lock down computers severely.
I’m reasonably sure my company doesn’t pay attention to websites we click to as long as it doesn’t trigger any alerts but 100% it’s there in case they want to”reasons”
One of my ex-co-workers did get fires with that as the reason, but wtf, don’t you have a phone? Why would you ever do personal stuff on company equipment. Even worse, we sell security software that does this! Did you really think we weren’t using it ourselves?

Do people not think their employer tracks what sites they visit on work computers?
