      Not much except that it came out after one of the greatest science fiction sequels of all time and couldn’t escape the shadow of its success. Also the lack of weapons for a prison seems like it’s less dungeon and more of an oubliette, which was never stated in the film but would make sense for how the prisoners are left to fend for themselves and have no regulation about mixing populations.

      But I agree with you that the third one isn’t bad.

        My biggest issue with 3 was how the writers failed to build a good mental map for the audience of the tunnels. The whole 10 minute “chase” scene had me thoroughly confused as to how close the alien was to anyone else.

        There’s also a lot of context around its production and release that’s only memorable to people who were fans at the time. It spent years in development with several rewrites. There was a publicly stated intent that the xenomorphs would be coming to Earth. Total mess of a production with poor setting of expectations.

        Decades later, we can ignore all that and judge the film on its merits. I think it’s ok, but not great.
