It amazes me how this has 86 updogs on Lemmy but only 6 when I shoot over to Mastodon. I feel like you should A) be able to link directly rather than screenshot, but in a way that looks like a screenshot, and B) amass internet dopamine points cross platform.

Speak for yourself, my work still operates off local SQL databases set up 22 years ago. On this day it is I who gets to laugh.

No, but I do have to ask a random ITC group for access to direct query the data, even though I’m the one responsible for the DBs, put the data in there, and they have nfi idea what any of it is.

Spoiler alert, I was denied, but am still allowed to query the data off into CSV to store locally or onto SP so it can then be PowerQueried into Excel or BI…because to them, this is more secure than the Oracle add-on for MS…

Also they’re running the SDK off like Java 5 or something. A third-party version of it…

I wake up to a bleeding nose every workday.

The original data center of aws is located on the east coast of the USA. A lot of services that AWS offers depends on it, but the infrastructure is old, and regularly breaks down.

Over half of the internet depends it. Sometimes indirectly. Often the downtime is not so spectacular

The great thing about the cloud is that you can easily distribute your server load and yadda yadda yadda. It’s shit. Bezos is shitting in the mouth of the world.

Amazon is not an online retailer. It’s a server host that happens to be running an online store on some of their servers.

Kinda the same way McDonalds is not a restaurant
