I have a Pixel 6a and I would like to limit the phone to about 80% instead of going to 100 for…explody reasons. At no point do I want it to go above 80%. Is that possible with an app? Most that I saw on Fdriod only give you a notification. I want it to be automatic.

This is built-in on the latest versions on Android. Open the Settings app, then Battery -> Battery Health -> Battery optimisation and choose Limit to 80%.

It will still charge to 100% periodically to assess the state of health.

Last I heard it also does it based on your sleep timer. So if you charge midday or something it will still charge to 100%>

It appears very difficult to do that without rooting the phone. You could instead have the notification trigger an external switch that disconnects the charger, or just put the charger on a timer. I just use my phone’s timer alarm to tell me when to unplug, and that has worked pretty well.
