Since the trade war I’ve been making Canadian old fashioneds and like them better actually.

Canadian whisky of choice, I tend towards either Gibsons or Wisers for cocktails but you can use any Canadian, then Dillons orange bitters, maple syrup, and a large ice cube. Garnish with whatever you like to garnish an old fashioned with. If it’s around Christmas I’ll char a cinnamon stick and put it in too. I’d like to get a cocktail smoker eventually as well.

I’ve been looking for a good Canadian whiskey, I’ll keep those in mind. The selection for that has gotten better over time in the States despite what’s going on.

Those are on the cheap end for Canadians but they’re still decent. Specifically, Gibson’s Finest Rare 12 Year and JP Wisers Deluxe. There’s better stuff out there but for value for money, especially if it’s just for a cocktail anyway, they’re my go-to’s. Regular Canadian Club is one I tend to avoid but their 12 Year is really good for cheap whisky.

My favourite Canadians are all probably never going to the States but if you ever see Forty Creek Confederation Oak or Signal Hill whisky they’re my personal favourites.

So does Kash Patel apparently. Really put me off the brand even though they claim they did not provide the engraving on Patel’s bottles of Woodford.
