A French and Saudi-chaired UN conference will be held in June in order to resurrect the idea of a two-state solution

Israel has issued a threat to France and the UK that any moves to recognize a Palestinian state will see Tel Aviv annex parts of the occupied West Bank in response, according to a 26 May report by Haaretz.

I guess it means “full mask off”. Wait, that’s what they’ve been doing for the past years anyhow. Hmmm.

Also how would that be retaliation against France and the UK? It’s like any tough movie criminal’s favorite trick: I will torture not you, but this person you feel for until you give me what I want!

But seriously, my octogenarian parents would probably gobble it up and blame anybody who recognizes Palestine for being too confrontational, thus making lasting peace impossible. I kid you not.

yeah. it’s fucking sad the amount of zionist rhetoric stuck in folks like that. i mean to be “fair”* they were like 10 when israel “became” a “state.”

        • fair would be that they grew up watching zionists do a genocide and be against it TODAY. but noooooo the “greatest generation” and their boomer kids are straight assholes.

I wonder how much of it is (dis)information warfare. I’m glad these things are coming to broader attention now, but it’s probably been happening right from the start.

Also Germans. They can hardly start accusing Israel of genocide, even today.

Occupying it. Meaning that Palestinians living there could not vote, and were subject to martial law. At the same time Israel administered things such as building permits which means that Israel could “legally” demolish “illegal” buildings.

I highly doubt they’re going to annex anything that’s full of Palestinians, not while the Kahanites are in power they’re way too much into the whole ethno-state thing to do that.

Makes sense, that’s why they are flattening those places with bomb first and/or raiding

Palestinians in Jerusalem are many on a permanent residency visa which doesn’t allow them to vote.

And presumably the terms of the permit allow Israel to kick them out at their heart’s content.

I gotta be honest Jerusalem is a thing I was overlooking but I still don’t think Kahanites would be willing to do that. Some kind of compromise to be able to say that Jerusalem is (fully) Israel, one thing, but the west bank? It’s just land. They don’t want the people living there they’ll either not take it, or take it without the people, no matter how disenfranchised.

I suppose this is more about annexing the illegal settlements. Ones which already have sky-high walls around them.

Yeah, whatever they do it’s going to benefit settlers and not the Palestinians, that’s pretty much guaranteed with the current government.
