    a rabbit’s favorite snack.

Just a PSA about this common myth - rabbits DO NOT naturally eat carrots.

Bugs Bunny popularized the idea, yet the only reason he ate carrots was as a reference/homage to Clark Gable in the 1934 film It Happened One Night.

Peter [Gable’s character] pulls out a carrot with the long leafy greens still attached, peels the skin with a pocket knife, and nonchalantly nibbles on the vegetable as cars whisk by. Peter continues to give the lesson while speaking with a mouthful of carrots, a personal quirk reminiscent of Bugs Bunny’s casual, carefree attitude.

Apparently a lot about Bugs Bunny was a reference to that character, including the phrase, “What’s up, Doc?”

Anyway, I’ve seen pet-owners give their rabbits carrots as if it’s a normal meal. It is not, and the high sugar in carrots can cause health issues. For the sake of your bunny, please get dietary advice from your pet’s veterinarian - not from a cartoon that parodied a film character 85 years ago.
