Amid the ongoing shutdown, the HHS secretary wiped out entire offices that investigate disease outbreaks, manage infectious disease responses and collect data.

From the article, a laundry list of ‘achievements’ since RFK Jr took office:

Kennedy’s tenure at HHS has been unprecedented and chaotic. In just eight months, the secretary has: pushed sweeping budget cuts and canceled billions in research and development; overseen mass layoffs and reorganizations that erased whole teams tackling clear health threats; without scientific backing, withdrawn Covid vaccine recommendations for healthy children and pregnant people; gutted the agency’s vaccine advisory panel, firing respected experts and replacing them with ideological loyalists; installed a vocal Covid vaccine critic to chair a safety subcommittee; reopened the long-debunked vaccines-and-autism debate; hired a discredited anti-vaccine researcher who experimented on autistic children to trawl government data and relitigate settled science; pressed for access to private data to fuel the research; undermined his own epidemiologists during the Texas measles response; downplayed a shooting that left CDC staff shaken; announced sweeping policy changes on social media with no data to back them and accused the American Academy of Pediatrics of a “pay-to-play scheme” for daring to dissent. Most recently, he blew his self-imposed September deadline to figure out the cause of autism and, without compelling scientific evidence, blamed pregnant mothers’ use of Tylenol for the condition.

Remember a couple of minutes ago when the world shut down because we were woefully unprepared for a pandemic?

This is a smart money saving measure, theres no way a pandemic can happen twice.

Even if the US somehow manages to have another election and elect a sane president, it will be an almost impossible task to undo all the damage the Trump regime did.

They literally laid it all out in Project 2025. There are some nuances to how it’s unfolding but this is what they wanted.

Yeah I think this is the headline that finally did it for me. Hurting Democrats isn’t enough, hurting minorities isn’t enough. They want the country to no longer exist. They want a smouldering pile of rubble left, literally preferably, but they’ll accept metaphorical if that’s all they can get. The point of this administration is to destroy America and kill as many citizens in the process as humanly possible.

No matter how bad it’s seemed I swear fucking God the next day it’s proven worse than that. At no point was it possible to accurately assess how royally fucked we are or how evil these Nazis are. And you’ll have Republicans defending all this shit even if they personally are being sent to the gulag. They’d say we’re overreacting even as they themselves are having the executioner’s hood forced over their heads. I don’t understand how it would be possible to use the power of government in more evil ways.

It’s accelerationism. You burn it down so you can rebuild it how you want. Once all is rubble they’ll say “You see? Democracy was just a pie in the sky experiment that was destined to fail. Now let’s go back to monarchy.”

Remember who burned it down, and never forget, No Fucking Kings. Not now, not ever.

I would agree, but I actually see it more as sadistic and wanting people to suffer. They could literally destroy the government entirely without so much suffering as is currently being set into motion. But that wouldn’t get their rocks off.

I don’t think it’s quite that Captain Planet.

The ruling elite in the US are all several generations down the line of nepotism. None of them have ever had to experience consequences, nor learn a lesson, they are just stupid rich people who think they’re rich on their own merits.

There are a few very rich very evil people who are playing them like puppets though and they’re too stupid to notice.

Oh, wait that is pretty Captain Planet.

I noticed nothing you said contradicts my assertion that they actively want people dead. Nothing about being rich means you need to go out of your way to mass murder. I don’t even see how they could profit from this decision

Nah, that would at least be a good thing for the rest of the world. What they want is for a few rich white guys to rule over the entire world (including US itself) with an iron fist. They would still need the MIC, military and stuff for that to happen. It’s going to be grim for all americans not in those industries though, for sure.

Way to slide in the America hate, divorced of all reason. The United States, like many other countries, is a vital part of global economics and nuking it from orbit is a bad thing for others as well. You’d think at this point in history people wouldn’t be so stupid to think in such myopic and isolationist ways, but there’s never a limit on stupidity, I’m reminded every day

a vital part of global economics

… because they violently overthrow any government that tries to dedollarize. This is the only reason US is still part of global economics.

nuking it from orbit is a bad thing for others as well

Will there be an economic downturn? Sure, for a bit, while countries adjust. But there will also be much less war and genocide, which is worth it on its own, and by now the US doesn’t have any real industrial sector apart from weapons manufacturing so supply chains won’t be affected much (with very few exceptions, like airplanes).

Of course a revolution in the US would be better, but I don’t see that happening for a while. TBH neither do I see america truly being destroyed by Trump, he seems to have something worse in mind as I’ve said.

Yes you’re right, the huge amount of exports and technology from America is actually of no consequence. Why don’t you figure out a way to nuke us personally. Goddamn I hate tankie bigots.

Oh how I wish we didn’t share a geographic border with this fuck-up of a nation (with its ability to spread diseases directly to us). <cries in Canadian>

… and how I also wish we didn’t have a significant cell of idiots within our borders who seem to believe the same insanity.

EU, please take under your wing. Whatever faults may be there surely it must be better than this.

Well, that’s one way to stochastically get rid of excess population now seen as surplus to requirements, I guess.

Any former employees of the CDC might be interested to know that the EU has been beefing up epidemic response and is hiring. Assuming you’ll be allowed to leave the country, of course.

Sorry, I don’t know what to tell you. I thought I’d made a mistake with the direct link and just tried it myself, but it works as expected for me.

In any case, for the benefit of you and anybody else having similar issues: it’s a link to an article about the recent issue of Rutgers professor Mark Bray apparently being prevented from leaving the US for Spain. You won’t have trouble finding coverage of it elsewhere if you’re unaware of it and wish to know more.
