“Ah yes, let’s fucking ROB a KITCHEN with a POCKET KNIFE, when my would-be victims are surrounded by knives of all shapes and sizes, pans heavy enough to crack someone’s skull, cleavers that could take my limbs off in one swing, literal BOILING LIQUIDS in HUGE pots, and they’re also SERVICE WORKERS who are probably homicidal from the bullshit customers pull in a regular day’s work and are just looking for an excuse to kill someone legally. Surely I won’t get done like Julius Caesar.”
Never risk your life or health for a job. Ever.
If someone comes in with a pointy toothpick and says gimme the money from the register, then you should give them the money from the register
I mean, yeah, sure, but those are service workers. If you know anything about that kinda stuff is that most of those people (and anyone who deals with customers face to face in a daily basis) are repressing YEARS of near-homicidal rage and are just itching to take it out on someone. And who deserves it more than some dude waltzing into a restaurant with an inadequate weapon and threatening the lives of workers who have enough weapons around them to recreate Caesar’s assassination?
Like, I don’t think it’s about the job, it’s more about the fact they’re trying someone on the verge of snapping!
Sometimes refusing to fight back is risking your life. The situation varies wildly case by case, we can’t make blanket statements.
If I were manning the register at a convenience store? Fuck it, take it all, vas con dios. In a case like this? I’m grabbing whatever makeshift weapon is at hand.
Can’t articulate it, but in the latter case I’d feel more cornered, fewer options?
Agreed.
Not every nutcase is running on get-money-get-out logic.
Some people are just looking for a bad time and have decided they’re going to make it your problem.
I mean, technically, you have WAY more options… on how to hurt the would-be robber 😂
i feel like that depends on the vibes, if the robber is giving “my first robbery” vibes then a bigger toothpick it is. if they aren’t then give them the money
i’m saying this because it sounds like a lot of work having to then explain everything to your boss, police, friends who want to know etc
