    Ravens are pretty big birds. I don’t think that’s a hatchling but it sure isn’t anywhere near an adult.

      Had to go and look it up. I’d always thought they were just crows that were a bit differenty but yeah they’re like a double-crow, damn lol

        Yup, they’re the largest member of the songbird family! Even though the noises they make aren’t very melodic, lol

        They’re shy as hell on the US east coast because historically farmers killed them, but there was no such history on the west coast and they’re like really smart seagulls here. I see them watching roads and parking lots for food opportunities all the time. In the late summer I even see juvenile groups soaring and diving together sometimes. I lived 20+ years on the east coast and never saw a raven once.

      Also, juvenile birds look bigger than usual when they have their mouths open for feeding.

      I suspect it’s an evolutionary adaptation to be the biggest target for food.
