I just don’t understand why they need so much stuff. I have a small SUV (Hyundai Kona), moderate sized house (three bedroom), and a small family (wife and baby daughter). I can eat what I want, go where I want and don’t need to worry about choosing between eating or having a roof over my head.

I work a pretty average paying kind of job.

Even if I had tons more money, I don’t think I’d want much else. At most I’d pay off the mortgage and secure a good college fund for my daughter.

I liked it when Thatcher the Milk Snatcher said “the problem with socialism is you run out of other people’s money”, and people just accepted that with no critical thought whatsoever

Thus its dependency on frontiers: “new” land, new tech, new cars, new trends, dot com, surveillance capitalism, mars, VR, crypto, ai, etc.

Why does anyone volunteer or do anything for free ever?

Empathy, Pride, Achievement, Recognition, Logic, etc. are all drivers for people.
