    “IP law”? IP is not a good term. it suggests that ideas are property??
    you see companies mining everything possible, such that dirt just goes <poof>! and your first thought is “oh no, the landowners had the right to those minerals! they should’ve bought a permit first!”(?)

      IP law is not a good term? “Intellectual property (IP) law” is not a good term? We should tell everyone, even wikipedia is using it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intellectual_property

      How the hell is IP law connected to mining? But honestly yes, landowners should own the mining rights for their land and/or should have the right to buy them before it is sold to anyone else. It is not difficult to see why you don’t want someone dig under your land.
