If you turn off the lights in the room and put a light in the direction they should go, they’ll never bother you again. Has never failed me.
If you live in the city, opening a window and turning off the light, all screens etc. will get rid of them in under a minute.
> mosquitos seeing open window
“Don’t mind if I do.”
Ah, but you can easily get rid of mosquitos by closing the window, running the gas for a while, and lighting a match.
Funny, that’s the same as my trick for spiders
spiders are bros, leave spider bro alone
get rid of mosquitoes
Along with all other lifeforms in the house.
Just light yourself on fire a little bit at a time, incrementally increasing the amount of fire until you build an immunity.
What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.

✅ TRUE
Oh shoot! Yeah! Wait!
I forgot to mention you want throw the match into your house from outside. Then hit the ground immediately. You don’t want to look like some idiot getting killed by your own lounge room debris.
Should be sweet as after that 👌
No, wait! Get your cat too!
Before the match toss step.
Okay. You should be good now.
Unless they decide it’s time for a nap, and now it’s too dark to see them and chivvy them along out.
If you keep seeing flies in the winter and you don’t have any open windows: something dead is in your house that they are laying eggs in it.
okay i’ll brush my teeth i can take a hint
I’ve also noticed that the shiny green flies are more indicative of something dead and rotting somewhere in your house, while the black and grey houseflies are less so.
Those are most likely bot flies, which are exclusively parasitic, doesn’t necessarily have to be dead but it’s on the way out in general.
I know, i know, funny joke, haha, etc.
Let me take this way too seriously for a moment.
I think it is exactly this way of viewing the world, that has brought us to this point.
We are the anomaly here. The concept of building a closed space that has areas where light enters, but which can’t be crossed, is something that has never been seen before in the whole history of the earth. Nor is it in any way normal, by the way, to have such a massive scale of light sources around during night time. The fact that flies and other insects can’t handle this is logical and has nothing to do with being stupid. It happened so damn fast, they just never had a chance to evolve.
After 150 years of treating nature and the planet as if we had 10 others lying around just waiting for us, we have finally started to see how our way of living is harming us and the creatures we share this world with. But instead of adopting or changing, we make funny jokes about how stupid they are.
This extremely human centric view will be our downfall. And the only thing i regret is how many other creatures we will take with us in the process.
It’s crazy that we call the fucker “housefly,” despite it predating the house by like 64.9 million years.
Getting a mix of a sparrow’s flight through King Edwin’s great hall at Gefrin with a hint of insect apocalypse
