The Minnesota ones are particularly interesting. The Democrats had a one-seat advantage in both chambers of the Minnesota legislature. The assassin specifically targeted one Democratic member of each chamber. The Minnesota House is now tied, and the Senate will be tied until Hoffman is able to work or (or Minnesota allows it, I’m not sure) is about to designate someone to vote for him.

There should be rules that disincentive assassination so this doesn’t happen again.

Specifically, any one party shouldn’t be able to take advantage of a momentary shift in power due to an assassination of a member in the other party.
And how do you incentivise politicians to follow that rule?
Obviously there is still enough incentive. Maybe the legislature should still get her vote, from like a deputy or assistant of some kind.
