Sadly the USA has no system to request proof of how your vote was counted. Some people claim it could cause discrimination and that such a record could make everyone who voted a certain way a target, but personally I would be willing to take that chance for the added assurance, and I’m probably a target for the way I voted irregardless.
Voting data is stored in such a way that the records are not, in fact, there, while still being auditable - unless the tallying system is compromised in some way.
It’s not a chance or a mere claim by “some people”; we already know what it was like before the secret ballot. This idea has already been tried. You’d date somebody who voted for a monster and they’d tell you “my boss/landlord made me do it”.
This is where some people will so cleverly suggest “oh simply make it illegal to fire them for that cause”… which will work about as well as every other worker protection that isn’t a union. They’ll build a case to fire you “for another reason”.
Anywhere that would discriminate over how you voted does so already, politics are so polarized that nobody is exactly hiding it well when they support a specific side. Nobody sane is going to make you submit the form you requested with your vote history unless they aren’t competitive. But what if they do? Maybe they should. I wouldn’t want to work for a Republican business and I wouldn’t want Republicans working for upright businesses.
The only downside I can think of is people trying to purchase votes, but that’s already a felony as of 1940 with many SCOTUS rulings over the century reaffirming it.
I’m sorry but this has already happened and it’s not hypothetical. “Find a better job” has never addressed systemic problems. Nobody wants to work for a shady company, there just aren’t enough upright ones to go around.
When you say “I wouldn’t want to work for a Republican business”, you’re implying that we can simply choose to work for businesses that aren’t Republican-owned. For the average job seeker this restriction is costly.
My job issues would become yours if I had to choose between altruistic voting and a higher paying job!
I already pointed out that this form of discrimination already exists in no short supply, so it wouldn’t change at all.
If you’re that worried about it just make it illegal for others to request your vote history from you for the purpose of employment, enrollment, enlistment, or any form of contract verbal or written aside from the singular exception of personal lives and romantic interests.

Yeah I disregarded that because thinking workplace protections aren’t effective is absolute nonsense. If it were true then businesses and the GOP wouldn’t fight tooth and nail to remove them at every opportunity.

That’s a horrifying idea. Secret votes are a core pillar of democracy.
Your vote was counted, your name was on the ballot. Being able to request how it was counted risks nothing if implemented correctly.
The fact that audits exist meaning the records are there.
Wtf, do you write your names on the ballot in the US?!

The audit involves recounting ballots which are kept, therefor a record is there.
At least where I live, the ballot does not have identifying information on it. The information on how you voted is there, yes, but not who ‘you’ is.
It would absolutely make more people a target

lmao I didn’t tell you to find a better job, I asked to be able to confirm how my vote was counted. Your job issues are yours not mine.

Yes it would change, this already happened

Party affiliation is public record.
I enjoy that you apply a lot of creativity to have the weirdest unpopular opinions.
